  • Prof. Wei Wei | Founder Emeritus

    Wei is Waysmith’s Founder Emeritus, where she provides strategic insight and direction for both the family and its enterprise.

    Wei has served as a Visiting Professor of Music and a doctoral advisor specializing in vocal music at Shinawatra University in Thailand, as Ambassador of Forestry of China’s National Forestry and Grassland Administration, and as Ambassador of the Chinese Football Association.

    An artist at heart, throughout her four-decade career, her contributions to music, visual media, and family have cemented her as one of the greatest artists in modern Chinese history. Twenty-eight years ago, it was Wei’s global vision that laid the foundations of what is known as the Waysmith Group today.

    An emissary for the Bordeaux wine region in France, Wei is an inducted member of The Grand Conseil du Vin de Bordeaux and a Commandeur of its Beijing Commanderie.

  • Symington W. Smith | Managing Partner

    Symington W. Smith is the Managing Partner of Waysmith, where he oversees all aspects of the family’s investment portfolio alongside his two brothers, including renovation and improvement projects to enhance property value, investment allocation, and more. He is also Executive Director of BIMI Holdings Inc., an American multinational holding company with over $35M in total assets.

    Broadly experienced in both corporate management and rural estate and land conservation, Symington was raised on the family estate. He began his award-winning career at Ogilvy, then as a civil servant at the Cabinet Office in the U.K. and Baker McKenzie as a founding member of its China Practice in London.

    An elected fellow of five Royal Societies, Symington's spoken at Harvard and Tsinghua and has been highlighted in a range of publications and websites, including the U.K. Parliament, the House of Lords International Relations Committee, Voice of America, Elle, Tatler, The National Interest, Modern Diplomacy, China Daily, and more.

    In 2020, Symington received Tatler Asia's Leader of Tomorrow award alongside Olympic gold medalist Eileen Gu and was awarded The National Association of Asian-American Professionals’ Inspire Award.

    Symington is a member of the National Committee on US-China Relations and the Yale Club of New York City. Fluent in English, Swedish, and Chinese, he earned his BA from Peking University and holds three master's degrees from Tsinghua University, King's College London, and Yale.

  • Remington W. Smith | Partner

    Remington is a Partner at Waysmith, directly managing family-owned units in Asia. Based in London, he is also a passionate full-stack web developer fluent in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Golang, Rust, Python, SQL, and more.

    Remington is also proficient in Agile workflows and Git, and has completed projects ranging from a Social-Network app, to a Brickbreaker-style game, a Chrome extension, and a QR Code Generator app.

    Remington earned his BA from SOAS at the University of London, and previously studied clinical medicine at Peking University. Fluent in English, Thai, Chinese and Swedish, Remington is a member of programming fellowship 01 Founders in London, and a graduate of Harvard’s CS50 class.

  • Vinson W. Smith | Partner

    Vinson is a Partner at Waysmith, directly managing family owned units in Asia. He is also Chief Information Officer of BIMI Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: BIMI).

    Vinson began his career as Director of Marketing for private jet charter company Prima Air, a leading jet firm with more than eleven Gulfstream jets in its fleet. Later, he worked as a broker for Dynamic Fintech Group (DFG), a licensed OTC fiat-to-crypto exchange based in Silicon Valley. From 2020 to 2021, he served as Senior Creative for Thai startup Sapiens Digital Strategy & Consulting, where his clients included five-star hotels and luxury brands.

    Vinson is the youngest graduate of Columbia Business School's Executive Development Program. Committed to philanthropy and the arts, he supports organizations including Feeding America, UNICEF, the Royal Society of Arts, and Prevent Child Abuse America. In 2022, he was elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and is a Patron of The Metropolitan Opera.
